It is said that Brahma was the creator and introduced Sanskrit language to the Sages of celestial bodies. Therefore, this language is also called Dev Vani, which means the language of gods. It was during 18th century when a similarity between Sanskrit, Latin and Greek was found, which gave the reason to study and discover the relationship of all Indo-European languages. The earliest form of Sanskrit language was Vedic Sanskrit that came approximately around 1500-200 B.C. This was the period when knowledge was imparted orally through the generations.

Sandhya Vandanam

Sandhya Vandanam literally means either Salutation to the goddess of Dawn and dusk or the prayers done during dawn and dusk. Hindus considered the period just before dawn and just after dusk as well as the exact period of noon, as extremely suitable for meditation. All Brahmins after Upanayanam (prescribed to be done at the age of seven), were required to do these prayers without fail. Essentially these prayers are offering oblations to the devas (arghya pradanam), doing breathing exercises (pranayamam) and then meditating on Gayathri by chanting the king of all manthras Gayathri. This Manthra is taught to every boy by his own father during the ceremony of brahmopadesam. After learning Gayathri every boy is supposed to have taken a second birth and is entitled to be called Dwija. Our scriptures attach lot of importance to Sandhya Vandanam. They prescribe that a dwija should do it without fail every day. They also say that the knowledgeable Brahmin who salutes the Sun god daily thrice would attain whatever he wants. They further say that one who does not do sandhyavandanam is a sinner and is not eligible for any Vedic duties. What is given below is the Sandhya Vandanam procedure prescribed for Yajur Vedis. But the manthras to be chanted by followers of the other Vedas is also mentioned wherever there is a difference. All people are requested to do the Sandhya Vandanam initially for a few times under the guidance of their "Guru" and use the procedure and manthras given below later. This is requested because English being not a very phonetic language is inadequate to transliterate Sanskrit slokas and that too those written in the Vedic Sanskrit. A summary meaning of all the manthras chanted is appended at the end.

પ્રેમ એટલે કે pratham&vidhee

પ્રેમ એટલે કે,

સાવ ખુલ્લી આંખોથી થતો મળવાનો વાયદો.

સ્વપ્નમાં પળાય એવો કાયદો…

પ્રેમ એટલે કે,

તારા ગાલોના ખાડામાં ડૂબી જતા મારા ચોર્યાશી લાખ વહાણોનો કાફલો

ક્યારે નહીં માણી હો,
એવી કોઈ મોસમનો કલરવ યાદ આવે,
એ પ્રેમ છે.
દાઢી કરતા જો લોહી નીકળે ને ત્યાંજ કોઈ પાલવ યાદ આવે,
એ પ્રેમ છે.

પ્રેમ એટલે કે,
સાવ ઘરનો જ એક ઓરડો… ને તોય આખા ઘરથી અલાયદો…

કાજળ આંજીને તને જોઉં તો તું લાગે,
એક છોકરીને તે શ્યામવર્ણી
વાદળ આંજીને જોતાં એવું લાગ્યું કે,
મને મૂકી આકાશને તું પરણી

પ્રેમમાં તો
ઝાકળ આંજીને તને જોવાની હોય
અને ફૂલોમાં ભરવાનો હોય છે મુશાયરો…

ભોમિયા વિના મારે ભમવા’તા ડુંગરા,
જંગલની કુંજકુંજ જોવી હતી;
જોવી’તી કોતરો ને જોવી’તી કંદરા,
રોતા ઝરણાંની આંખ લ્હોવી હતી.

 સૂના સરવરિયાની સોનેરી પાળે
હંસોની હાર મારે ગણવી હતી;
ડાળે ઝૂલંત કોક કોકિલાને માળે

અંતરની વેદના વણવી હતી.

એકલા આકાશ તળે ઊભીને એકલો,
પડઘા ઉરબોલના ઝીલવા ગયો;
વેરાયા બોલ મારા, ફેલાયા આભમાં,
અકલો અટૂલો ઝાંખો પડ્યો.

આખો અવતાર મારે ભમવા ડુંગરિયા,
જંગલની કુંજકુંજ જોવી ફરી;
ભોમિયા ભૂલે એવી ભમવી રે કંદરા,
અંતરની આંખડી લ્હોવી જરી
